On Friday, November 6, 2020 at 4 p.m., Nathan Hale High School celebrated Joshua Truchon, 2020 WIAA Division 1 State Cross Country Champion, with a short recognition parade and ceremony.

“Truchon and his coaching staff were escorted by a City of West Allis fire truck and officers from the West Allis Police. Students, families, and the community lined the streets in their cars with signs to congratulate Josh with well wishes,” said Principal Mathew Lesar.

The parade was followed by a small recognition event at the football stadium with Truchon, his teammates and cross country families.

“Joshua took the obstacle of a canceled spring track season and turned it into an opportunity to simply love each day and train at a high level,” said Coach Dan Machmueller, boys varsity cross country coach. “His work in the offseason is where he won his state championship”.

“His love for the sport and people involved has been contagious and he makes everyone around him better. Assistant Coach, John Dewitt and I are so thankful to coach a young man like Joshua and we have learned a lot from him. We celebrate his great season and his state championship, but more than that, we celebrate an amazing person.”

On Saturday, October 31, 2020, Joshua Tuchon won the WIAA Division 1 State Cross Country meet at Arrowhead High School (Hartland, Wisconsin) with a time of 15:18.
