As part of their Girl Scout Silver Award, Girl Scout Troop 8168, raised money for our District’s music program. The troupe has students that attend Frank Lloyd Wright Intermediate School and Mary Queen of Saints Catholic Academy.

The Silver Award Project
allows scouts to show leadership and dedication to improving their community.

“When
Girl Scout Cadettes focus on an issue they care about, they learn the facts, and take action to make a difference. Projects help them gain the confidence and skills for lifelong success. The Girl Scout Silver Award — the highest honor a Cadette can achieve,” said Co-leader of the Troupe, Gina Mazzone.

“As part of the Silver Award Project, the girls held a Holiday Craft & Hot Chocolate Fundraiser for elementary and middle school students and sold sweatshirts and t-shirts that they designed,” explained Music Coordinator, Mary Pat Michels.  “Their donation was used to purchase new music for the District Orchestra Festival Concert that will be held in April.”

Mrs. Michels stated, “We are grateful that the girls chose our Music Department as the recipients of their fundraising efforts and are excited to perform the new music in April.”
