Students at West Allis Central High School celebrated Homecoming October 14, 2019 through October 19, 2019. Each day of the week, students dressed in different themes: Monday was 80’s Day, Tuesday was Tacky Tourist Tuesday, Wednesday was class colors day, Thursday was Preppy Day, and on Friday students demonstrated their Bulldog pride by wearing their maroon and gold.

During the week, girls from each class participated in Powderpuff Football. Semi-finals were held on Wednesday at Honey Creek Park and on Friday, the seniors and sophomores played at the West Allis Athletic Complex just prior to the football game. According to Homecoming Co-Advisor, Carrie Hanson, “
After an intense game, the sophomores won and got the coveted ‘'W!’''

On Friday afternoon, a Pep Assembly planned and MC’d by teacher Mike Omo was held. All the football players and students that participate in fall sports were introduced. The students took part in tug-of-war, musical chairs, egg toss, survivor egg smash, snack food relay, pie in the face, and class cheer to earn points for their class. After all points were totaled, the Juniors came away with winning this year’s Spirit Stick!

From there, it was off to the parade.  According to Co-advisor, Angela Gerloski, “The homecoming parade is a favorite event for many of us! Teachers and students constructed floats. VIP’s rode in cars and trucks secured for the parade by teacher, Mr. Kerhin. The West Allis Police, West Allis Fire department, and military marched too. Central’s band also performed tons of great music! We love seeing the line of cars down Highway 100 as our parade crosses on Lincoln Avenue.”

Although the Bulldogs lost to Messmer/Shorewood in the last game of their season,
Athletic Director, Justin Marien, said, “The Bulldogs enjoyed growth throughout the year. They finished the season with a great Homecoming celebration. The Bulldogs are proud of the impact seniors Alex Bezoenik, Amir Blevins, KeShawn Carter, Nico Delgardo-Moore, Therian George, Sam Gonzalez, Jovanni Mason, Jayden Schafer, Lorzeno Thomas and Nick Weinbauer had this year.”

On Saturday night, 500 students attended the Homecoming Dance. It was organized by the West Allis Central Student Council along with advisors, Ms. Hanson, Ms. Gerloski, and Mr. Dolnick. The festivities, themed “A Night in Shanghai”, provided the students with a night to remember.  The Homecoming Court was:

Homecoming King
Kolby Kruk

Homecoming Queen
Madalyn Rapp

Homecoming Court
Brooklyn Higgins and Javon Wilson, Carnaishia Mims and Benjamin Page, Akeyatrist Townsend and Najashi Tolefree, Arianna Bell and Travis Page III

Money raised during Homecoming Week activities was donated to West Allis Central’s Best Buddies; a program that helps special education students form meaningful friendships with regular education students that attend the school.
