On Monday, November 18, 2019, the District approved a Facility Planning Guide and Process to develop a facility master plan through which plans and designs for significant facility renovation or replacement will be developed.

“This will be a collaborative process with community, administration, and board input leading to schools that inspire and shape the education our children and communities deserve,’” said Superintendent, Dr. Marty Lexmond.

In 1975, over 12,000 resident students attended three high schools, four intermediate schools, and sixteen elementary schools in the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District. Today, the District serves 7,000 resident students and 1,000 Open Enrollment students (8,000 total) in two high schools, one alternative high school, three intermediate schools, and eleven elementary schools.

“Our facility Planning Guide maps out the process we will be using to address key questions. It provides us with an opportunity to look at facilities in relation to their cost, our enrollment projections, and most importantly, the learning environment they provide,” explained Lexmond.

“Communication will be a big part of our process,” adds Lexmond. “Information will be posted on our website and in our newsletter. We want everyone to be aware of this important work.”
