Over the next several weeks, each elementary and intermediate school will be conducting spelling bees to determine who will compete at the District’s Annual Spelling Bee later this month.

“We will host twenty finalists at our District spelling bee. It’s a great opportunity for students to showcase their spelling skills, represent their school, and participate in a district wide event,” explains Spelling Bee Coordinator,
Caroline Aiello.

The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District’s Annual Spelling Bee will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at West Allis Central High School (8516 West Lincoln Avenue, West Allis) in the auditorium. The Spelling Bee begins at 6:30 p.m with a welcome by Superintendent, Dr. Lexmond.

The top six spellers from the District Spelling Bee will participate in the CESA #1 Regional Spelling Bee that takes place the week of February 17, 2020 in Pewaukee.

From there, the top speller will go on to compete at the
Wisconsin State Journal Spelling Bee which takes place at the Mitby Theatre in Madison on March 7,  2020. The top three spellers from the State Spelling Bee go on to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.
