Our Library

The Horace Mann Instructional Media Center, otherwise known as the IMC, is located in the center of our school on the second floor.  Library Media Specialist, Chad Lehman, runs the library on a daily basis.  The library is home to over 16,000 books, magazines, and audio/video materials that are checked out weekly by students in kindergarten through sixth grade as well as staff.  Students come to the library as a class for one hour each week.  Part of the time is spent in the main library working with and checking out books and the rest of the time is spent in our computer lab working on technology skills.  The library is open throughout the day and also open after school until approximately 3:00.  At this time, students and parents can checkout new books and use the computer lab for school related projects.

  

Our Computer Lab

Our computer lab is home to 31 Dell desktop PC's.  We have a scanner, digital camera, webcam, digital video camera, and LCD projector to also aid in instruction and student projects.  Students in grades 2 through 6 have their own network user names and passwords that can be used on any PC in the school.  In the lab, students work on a number of skills, including mouse control for the younger students all the way to the creation of PowerPoint presentations by the older students.  Teachers also bring their classes into the computer lab weekly to work on a number of different activities.
