Community-Based Transition Program

For individuals age 18-21 who have completed high school, but still qualify for special education services as determined by their IEP team.

Mission is to provide educational experiences based on individual need.  Development of functional independent skills in the areas of daily living, personal-social, vocational and leisure-recreation are the focus.  It's a cooperative process between students, family, program staff and community agency staff.

The program takes place at the Franklin Fieldhouse, District Administration Building, AMF Bowling, and the Southwest YMCA. Additional experiences in the community are provided such as grocery shopping, mobility training, and work experiences at local businesses.  A giant rummage sale is held every May that employs the students and helps raise funds for additional trips and experiences.  Volunteers welcome.
