Wisconsin’s Open Enrollment program has been part of district policy for over a decade. This program allows parents to send their child to a school district other than the one in which they live. Open Enrollment applications may be submitted with a request of up to three non-resident school districts. As part of the program, school districts must declare how many available seats are available per grade level.

The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District has recommended to the School Board that 352 seats be made available for in-coming open enrollment students.  These seats are designated for Kindergarten through 12th Grade.  Students will be placed, district-wide, using a lottery system.

Kindergarten – 24

Sixth Grade - 26

First Grade – 22

Seventh Grade - 1

Second Grade – 22

Eighth Grade - 25

Third Grade – 23

Ninth Grade - 46

Fourth Grade – 39

Tenth Grade - 41

Fifth Grade - 35

Eleventh Grade – 27

Twelfth Grade – 21

This year, Open Enrollment period is from February 6, 2017 to April 28, 2017. The School Board is expected to take action on this proposal at the January 23, 2017 regular School Board Meeting.

Open enrollment generates revenue that helps to support curriculum program offerings in our schools. The district offers seats in classrooms with available space using resources that have already been allocated thus generating additional funding.  Families that apply select us as a destination district and agree to provide transportation for their children to attend school here.
