On Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Franklin's School Culture Council held a Back to School Bash for students and parents.  The council is comprised by a group of teachers and staff members. According to Student Services Counselor, Jamie Crotteau, the event was focused on the Four E's (Embrace, Engage, Empower, and Experience).

“Over the summer our council participated in a book study about family engagement and we brainstormed ways to better engage families in our school events.  We also wanted to empower moms and dads with the tools necessary to do one of most challenging and rewarding jobs in the world - parenting!”

The evening included opportunities to meet teachers, tour classrooms, and experience a day in the life of a student.  In addition, a number of community partners helped engage and empower families with the resources available in West Allis.

Representatives from the West Allis Public Library, West Allis Health Department, West Allis Fire Department, MATC, Power For Change, and West Allis Recreation and Community Services Department provided information about their services and programs.  Franklin’s Skyward Trainer, Jessica Kosinski-was also on hand to help families login and use the program.

“Most of all we were able to experience, along with our families and the community representatives, the joys of learning and growing together,” added Crotteau. “Special thanks goes to our principal, Leslie Connors.  She encouraged us to try something new and it was well-received by all.”
