Mission Statement

The mission of the School District of West Allis - West Milwaukee, et al, in partnership with family and community, is to provide challenging curriculum and engaging instruction so that every student may attain academic success.

Welcome!

Welcome to the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District, where educators strive to open the minds of children to inspire the dreams of tomorrow. Our educators are doing this in a variety of ways, most importantly through our efforts to become a professional learning community.

What is a professional learning community? It is a group, specifically our teachers and administrators, which has pursued advanced training to enter a profession and remains current in its evolving knowledge base. Part of that evolving knowledge base is the increasing availability of student test score data. The ready availability of district and state test score data has facilitated the identification of curriculum and instructional strengths and weaknesses and provided a map to measure improvement.

By thoroughly examining data, adapting curriculum to state standards, and matching instruction to student needs, educators will continue to help students find academic success.

Test scores are not the only means by which good schools can be judged. Our Schools take great pride in their fine arts and athletic programs, extra-curricular activities, and classroom technology that is second-to-none. The Gifted, Creative and Talented Program offers a great variety of intellectually enriching activities, while programs provided by the Pupil Services Department to special education students have gained a nation-wide reputation for excellence.

Parental, student and community involvement are vital to the school district's success. With this in mind, "Listening Sessions" are held on a regular basis. Listening Sessions are an opportunity for residents to get first hand information on school district programs and initiatives, as well as have their concerns addressed by the district administrator.

West Allis-West Milwaukee school district educators firmly believe that community involvement is essential to student success. Please join us at Listening Sessions, PTA meetings, open houses, school improvement team meetings, or however you can. Your participation and support is the most important ingredient to student success.
