HOW CAN MY CHILD RECEIVE THERAPY SERVICES?

Therapy services are determined by the IEP team and the EEN of the child.

HOW OFTEN DOES THE IEP TEAM MEET?

The IEP team usually meets annually at the same time each year. Additional meetings can take place if deemed necessary.

WHY CAN'T MY CHILD RECEIVE OT/PT IF S/HE DOESN'T QAULIFY FOR ANOTHER DISABILITY?

A child must qualify for a special education disability which would benefit from OT or PT. 

WHY CAN'T MY CHILD RECEIVE OT IF NOBODY CAN READ HER PENMANSHIP?

The OT can provide you with materials and exercises for your child to do at home and can provide the teacher with materials for the classroom but poor penmanship is not considered a disabling condition.

OUR INSURANCE HAS CUT OFF OUR CHILD'S OT/PT, WHY CAN'T THE SCHOOL PICK IT UP?

If your insurance was covering your child's OT/PT, most likely it was related to medical issues.  OT/PT in the schools relates to educational issues. 

OUR CHILD CAN'T DO WHAT OTHERS DO IN CLASS, WHY CAN'T S/HE GET OT/PT? Formal test results indicate that your child's skills preclude inclusion into OT/PT.  The OT/PT can give you materials/exercises for you to do at home.
