Farewell from Our Fifth Grade

A message from Mr. Hatab:

Dear Hoover Families,

This is our last newsletter for the 2011-12 school year. Thank you for entrusting your child/ren with us as we work towards meeting their needs. Our staff is in the middle of the spring MAP assessment and the results will be provided before the end of the school year. We continue to work with our students daily to help them become problem solvers, critical thinkers and great readers. Please continue to read with them at home and allow quiet places for reading throughout the summer.
We continue our work with PBIS and teach all students how to be a great citizens. Our staff continues to model proper behaviors for all students and we celebrate our successes during our Monday Morning Assemblies.

I would like to thank all parents for working with us, and hope you remember that you are the most valuable role model.

The fifth grade completion ceremony will take place in the gym on Thursday, June 7th at 1:00 p.m. All family members are welcome to the ceremony. K5-Grade 4 will have bag lunches on June 7th and June 8th. Dismissal on the last day of school is at 11:40 a.m.

The 2012-13 school year will begin on Tuesday, September 4th. Hoover’s Open House will be on Thursday, August 30th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. I will be available via email throughout the summer. Once again, thank you for all your help and support throughout the school year, enjoy the summer and see you in the fall.

For the Children

Sincerely,

Ali Hatab

The History of Spike the Dragon,
Hoover's Mascot

Spike is located on the Northeast corner of Hoover. Her "mother" was our past art teacher, Mrs. Edith DeBrue. She designed and helped build Spike.  Spike is also a time capsule.  He is holding newspapers and other things from the 1980's and 1990's..  It will help us remember our past.
