The ACT is a college entrance exam that assesses a student's general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work.

The ACT consists of:

• Multiple-choice tests, which cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science.
• A Writing Test, which is optional.  It measures a students' skill in planning and the writing of a short essay.
