Below, you can read about a few of our successes that have made our high school one of the best in Wisconsin.  We are very proud of our students and staff here and we hope it shows.

The U.S. Department of Energy and the E.P.A named Hale an ENERGY STAR school!  --- Nathan Hale High School was recognized for its efforts to save energy in 2007 and 2008.  The award is given to organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through energy conservation.  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy presents the awards.  Hale is one of 3,200 business/buildings, nationwide, given this award since 1999.

UW-Madison/College Board Recognized Hale! ---  In April 2009, our school received a letter from the University of Wisconsin and the College Board thanking our school for providing an academically rigorous curriculum offered to our students.  The letter also noted that we are one of the top schools in the state for the number of students who take AP coursework and then enroll at UW-Madison.  Specifically, the letter illustrated that of the 25 students who enrolled this year, 112 AP exam scores earned these students 352 credit hours toward their degrees.  In 2004, 14 students enrolled at UW submitted 58 AP exam scores and earned a total of 164 credit hours toward their degrees.  The letter finishes by providing more data about AP exams, but also stated, “We recognize your tremendous show of support for your students as you provide the opportunity for broad access to AP course.”  Congratulations to our teachers who directly work with our students who take AP courses and to all of our staff members who help students prepare for the rigor of college.  We would also like to congratulate our students for their efforts and their families for encouragement and support.

Hale earns 5-Year NCA Accreditation! --- On April 21 and April 22, 2009, a review team of educational professionals from outside the school district, which included two college professors and a host of peer reviewers, evaluated Nathan Hale High School based on seven quality assurance standards.  The North Central Association gave Nathan Hale a stellar review citing the highest mark possible in the area of documenting and using assessment data to improve both learning and instruction.  This team, which conducted two overseas reviews and many within the states, commented that they have never before awarded the highest rating to a school.  This speaks highly of both our school and district initiatives.  We would like to thank all of the parents and community members, students, and staff for providing assistance in this important endeavor.  It truly is a tremendous accomplishment.

ACT Recognized Hale! --- Nathan Hale High School has also been "...cited as one of 382 high schools across the country that have proven that core classes can be made rigorous and that rigorous content can be effectively taught to students."  To read more about this recognition, click on this link:

The Dark Side of the Internet

In February 2009, expert Eric Szatkowski presented information to parents/guardians and others on the dangers of the internet, social networking sites (such as MySpace and FaceBook), and demonstrated actual live Internet activity in regards to child pornography.   Mr. Szatkowski also provided a number of tips and suggestions for parents.  We thank the PTSA, CAAD, and the West Allis Police Department for helping sponsor this extremely valuable and time presentation!  If interested, click on the link below, which lists websites that can assist parents.
