Academic Director -

Students who do not complete work will be referred to the Academic Director for support services.  Students who are experiencing academic difficulty may request, or be referred for support services.  The Academic Director will coordinate services to assist the student in the learning process.  These services/interventions may include the following:

Feel free to contact our Academic Director on any issue that may affect the academic aspects of a student.  Her contact information is:

Ms. Debra Bukowski

Resource Room - The Learning Center (Room 205) -

Students who have study halls may ask for a pass to attend the Learning Center, our academic resource room.  This will enable our students the opportunity to receive additional enrichment and academic support from certified teachers.

Tutoring -

Often, our National Honor Society students provide peer tutoring after school for 30 minutes in Room 250.  There is no need to sign up, but it may be useful to check with Ms. Bukowski to make sure tutors are available.  Students simply can stop in and should be able to receive assistance from another student.  In addition, students may complete a tutor request form if they would like a peer tutor during a study hall.  While not every request may be granted, we will do our best to find a tutor during study hall whenever possible.  Tutor request forms can be picked up from a school counselor, the academic director, or from the Student Support Services office, Room 235.  Also, some staff members provide tutoring after school in the Learning Center (Room 205) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until 3:30 p.m.  There is no costs associated with tutoring.

Late Work Policy -

It is the Academic Policy that all coursework be completed.  However, it is also the philosophy of Nathan Hale High School that all coursework should be submitted in a timely fashion.  All teachers will have the expectation that students will meet work due dates set by the individual teachers.  Each teacher will have an individual late work policy, but it should be noted that students handing in coursework past the established due date may be assessed a point/grade reduction.  It is the student’s responsibility to record missing work, and it is the responsibility of the student to approach the teacher after an absence to request any missed coursework for every excused day of absence.  Students will be held accountable for due dates, assignments, tests, and quizzes assigned before the date of the absence.
