Reading In the 2010-2011 school year 84% of our students were proficient/advanced on our WKCE Statewide assessment. This year our goal is 87% of our students will be proficient/advanced.
Strategies we will implement to improve student learning—
- Explicit instruction of reading and thinking strategies
- Use of Compass Learning in all classrooms
- Build vocabulary
- Personalized Learning Plans for all kindergarten through grade 3 students
- Use of West Allis Reading Continuum to monitor progress
- Use of MAP data in designing guided reading groups and focus
- Post Learning Targets in all classrooms
- Implement Writer’s Workshop model to improve student’s writing
- Reading intervention for K-3 students and 4/5 Students four days per week
Math
In the 2010-2011 school year 70% of our students were proficient/advanced on our WKCE Statewide assessment. This year our goal is 78% of our students will be proficient/advanced.
Strategies we will implement to improve student learning---
- Focus on math problem solving and explaining math thinking
- Use of the West Allis Math Continuum
- Use of Compass Learning in all classrooms
- Build Math Vocabulary with word walls
- Math intervention for K-3 students and 4/5 students four days per week
Relationships – Students and Parents
In the 2010-2011 school year 92% of our students were on green/white on our behavior chart all school year. This year our goal is 95% of students remaining on green/white.
Our goal for parent relationships is for 85% of Franklin families to attend two or more school events.
Strategies we will implement to improve relationships---
- Create TRIBES communities
- Continue PBIS behavior supports to promote positive choices through incentives
- Create intra-murals in sports, music, art and problem solving to increase student interest and motivation and decrease office referrals
- Improve parent communication through positive contacts with home
- Update Franklin Website monthly to use it as a valuable tool in keeping parents informed
- Reduce amount of student absences and tardiness
