Lincoln Intermediate Earns Award
(January 23, 2009) Lincoln Intermediate School, in the West Allis - West Milwaukee School District, has been chosen as a “Lincoln Legacy School” by the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission out of Washington, DC. This award recognizes the participation in the commemoration of the 200th birthday of President Lincoln.
As part of this process the school was required to submit items which demonstrate that they meet the commission’s criteria. Items submitted were photos of the entry way murals painted by the 7th grade students in cooperation with their artist in residence Nicole Tentoni, the family portrait project of Abe Lincoln, the manners assembly to encourage students to be good citizens aware of the rights and dignity of others, the up coming poetry contest, Language arts writing project based upon Lincoln’s leadership skills, and the 200th birthday celebration for Mr. Lincoln on February 12th.
Scholastic News magazine has contacted Lincoln Intermediate School about having the school and one of the students featured in their magazine as one of the four Lincoln Legacy Schools.
