Response to the April 6, 2008 Journal Sentinel Article

The Sunday, April 6, 2008, edition of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Newspaper included an article regarding post employment retirement benefit funding in several school districts state-wide, including the West Allis - West Milwaukee Schools.  Unfortunately, the article failed to provide its readers a full context and explanation of the West Allis - West Milwaukee School District’s effort to plan for and fund post retirement benefits.  The reporter(s) responsible for writing this article did not mention a KEY fact that our district as of February 28, 2008 has netted a profit of $846,473 through our investment.  This profit earned has already reduced the school district’s long term financial obligations for post employment retirement benefits along with other initiatives to positively impact this obligation.  For more details clarifying our response to this article please click on the link below.
