Nathan Hale Makes Newsweek List

(June 24, 2009)  The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District is proud to announce that Nathan Hale High School has once again been ranked as one of the top 1500 public schools in the United States.  This is the fourth consecutive year that Nathan Hale has made this list and the highest rating ever for the school.  Nathan Hale moved up 234 spots over last year to finish at number 779 in the nation.

According to Newsweek Magazine public schools are ranked according to a ratio devised by Jay Matthews in which the total number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and/or Cambridge tests taken by all students at each school in 2008 is then divided by the number of graduating seniors.  All of the public schools on the top 1500 list have an index of at least 1,000 and are in the top 6 percent of public schools that are measured this way.
