Book Celebrates 100 Years of Education in West Allis - West Milwaukee; Proceeds for Scholarships
(1/3/07) "100 Years of West Allis - West Milwaukee Schools" is the first book of its type to celebrate a proud tradition of public schools in the communities that comprise one of Wisconsin's largest districts. Written by two former administrators, Dr. Leonard Szudy and Robert Thompto, the book tells the story of West Allis - West Milwaukee schools and the people who made them great.
Featuring over 100 pictures, maps, and charts, the book traces the origins of the school district in 1836 to present times. It includes articles on annexations, the role of the recreation department, the impact of growth and changing educational needs, and much more.
Copies can be obtained from 8 am to 5 pm at the West Allis - West Milwaukee Recreation Department Parkway Center, 2930 S. Root River Parkway, district schools, and the Educational Administration Building, 9333 W. Lincoln Ave.
