WAWM Schools Receive AT&T Grant
(December 11, 2008) AT&T has presented the West Allis - West Milwaukee Schools with a $200,000 grant for our Transitional Education Center or “TEC” Program. This program provides expelled and at-risk students in our district who have previously had difficulty in the regular school environment with an opportunity to establish a positive, successful reconnection with school. Through the TEC program, located at an alternative educational setting at the West Allis - West Milwaukee Recreation Center, students complete rigorous standards-based educational modules for credit through on-line learning courses, receive additional individualized instruction in reading and mathematics from a certified teacher, and counseling support to develop appropriate social and emotional skills to succeed in the classroom.
According to Superintendent Kurt Wachholz “The West Allis - West Milwaukee School District is pleased to partner with AT&T to help ensure that every student in our district has the opportunity to attain academic success.”
