The First State-Issued School Report Card is Released for Jefferson School Our first state-issued School Report Card has been released from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. This report card includes an overall accountability rating on a 100-point scale. To earn this score, Jefferson School accumulated points based on 2011-12 student performance in four priority areas: student achievement in reading and math, student growth measured by year-to-year improvements, closing gaps in performance between identified student groups, and on track to graduation post-secondary readiness. We are proud to announce that Jefferson School earned an Accountability Index Score of 75.6, indicating that we are exceeding the expectations that have been established by the State. This truly validates the work that has been done by our staff during daily collaboration to plan instruction that uses research-based strategies for meeting the individualized needs of our students. A direct link to our School Report Card can be found in the right hand column under "Jefferson School State Report Card." Congratulations to Jefferson School for Being Named a 2012-13 Wisconsin School of Recognition! We are proud to announce that Jefferson School has been recognized for the fifth time as a Wisconsin School of Recognition by State Superintendent Tony Evers. Along with Jefferson School, 132 schools were named statewide for this honor that includes three of our neighboring West Allis-West Milwaukee Schools: Horace Mann, Longfellow, & Wilson. The schools receiving awards have some of the highest poverty rates in the state based on free and reduced-price school lunch data. Student achievement in reading and mathematics was above average for schools from similarly sized districts, schools, grade configurations, and poverty levels. All award-winning schools receive federal Title 1 funding to provide services to high numbers of economically disadvantaged children. We consider this recognition to be an endorsement of the best instructional practices that our teachers provide to children in their classrooms every day, and our emphasis on having our students make good behavioral choices in order to be actively engaged in the learning that they need in order to prepare them for their futures. |
